About the club
Friends of youth in the Fox Valley.
We're business owners, retirees, parents, grandparents, and neighbors who meet every Wednesday at noon to share a meal, hear from a local speaker, and put our shoulders to the work of helping kids and our community thrive.
Our mission
Bringing out the best in kids — and in our community.
The Appleton Noon Optimist Club is a 501(c)(3) service organization and a chapter of Optimist International. For decades we have funded scholarships, supported youth programs, and shown up — week after week — for the organizations doing the hardest, most important work for kids in the Fox Valley.
We're proud of our history, but we're more proud of what comes next. New members, new ideas, and new partnerships are how this club has stayed useful for so long.
The Optimist Creed
Promise yourself…
- 1.
Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
- 2.
Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
- 3.
Make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
- 4.
Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
- 5.
Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best.
- 6.
Be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
- 7.
Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
- 8.
Wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
- 9.
Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
- 10.
Be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
When we meet
Every Wednesday at noon. Lunch, fellowship, a guest speaker, and the business of doing good.
Who belongs
Anyone who believes in young people and wants to roll up their sleeves. First lunch is on us.
What we do
Scholarships, youth program funding, oratorical contests, food drives, and an annual golf outing that fuels it all.
